Traffic Management Centres

Sound and effective traffic management leads to the smooth and safe operation of the motorway.

Coordination is carried out by the fully equipped Nea Odos Traffic Management Centres (TMC) in Schimatari – Boeotia, Klokova – Aetolia-Acarnania, and Episkopiko – Ioannina, which supervise the section of the A.Th.E. motorway and Ionia Odos respectively. The three Traffic Management Centres (TMCs) and the Tunnel Management Centres operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

At these Centres, scientific experts – traffic engineers and specialised personnel use cutting edge equipment to manage emergency calls, collect and study critical information, analyse traffic data in combination with the given conditions (e.g. weather conditions), and intervene in real-time on the motorway via the 24-hour road safety patrols. Furthermore, when required, they provide information to all emergency services.
