Traffic Management

Proper traffic management leads to the smooth and safe operation of the motorway.

Coordination is carried out by the well-equipped Traffic Management Centers (TMC) of Nea Odos in Schimatari, Klokova and Episkopiko and the Tunnel Traffic Management centers, supervising the A.TH.E. motorway and Ionia motorway respectively. All centers operate 24/7, 365 days a year.

In both Centers, scientific experts – traffic engineers and trained personnel, manage emergency calls using state-of-the-art equipment, collecting and studying critical information, analyzing traffic data and conditions (e.g. weather) for real-time motorway intervention via the 24-hour road safety patrol.

As necessary, they equally provide critical information to all emergency services.
